what we offer
We grow independent, resilient & fulfilled staff and young people through a broad coaching & training offer including;
Let me take you through my behaviour ‘consistencies’; a practical and structured approach to behaviour that will help make school work for all students and allow them to fulfil their potential through strong relationships and mutual responsibility.
The training has a strong research base and incorporates a range of practical solution-focused behaviour strategies rooted in my ongoing classroom work across all phases and settings.
Find out how to turn the latest thinking on Mindset, resilience, performance and habits into practical school and classroom approaches that develop independent, resilient and successful students.
I present case studies and practical examples from my current work transforming the most disaffected and disengaged students into young people who engage positively with their education.
I deliver a practical teaching toolkit to challenge and engage with boys, whether they are simply underachieving or more seriously disengaged and confrontational. Based on my deep engagement with the research, extensive wider reading and daily work with the most disaffected boys, my training will bring many tried and tested approaches to help boys reconnect with school.
Many pupils are unsure about how best to revise and lack the motivation to do so. My training course gives teachers of any subject and school leaders hundreds of practical suggestions for helping make revision more fruitful, interesting and engaging. The course considers aspects of motivation and meta-cognition, as well as interesting and engaging techniques for helping pupils to take responsibility for their exam preparation. Now that final examinations have an increased importance in determining results it is essential that all schools have these strategies in their exam preparation toolkit.

Clean slate update....it wasnt picked up by E, refused to engage...he'll need another next week.
On the other hand, Student J, after many 2nd chances, today showed his mom how to do %ages so she can help younger sister & called me 'Mark' (not 'mate') for first time!
"This training has given me the chance to reflect on my practice and given me insights into how to proceed with challenges. I really enjoyed the session, thank you!"
Really relevant conversations about situations I am currently dealing with. Discussed useful strategies I can use in lessons. Thank You!
The NQT's really loved the conference day and felt that it was really productive. They were really inspired when they came back and I think that Mark really helped them in terms of giving them concrete ideas and things to try. There was a positive response from all of the NQT's. As you can imagine, sending 6 staff out was logistically challenging for us, but having this great feedback made it all worth while.
Mark is very professional in his delivery - he brings a wealth of practical experience and current research to his events to ensure that all participants experience new learning and a deeper understanding.
A very useful session. I have revisited my behaviour expectations with all my classes and see the importance of relationships. Praise and calls home, as suggested by mark, have had a big impact on some of the boys....I am trialling the Cookie Jar at home with my own 10 and 12 year old!
Outstanding INSET today by Mark. I highly recommend him.
Mark is very good at making our students feel secure and focused - we are very lucky to have his expertise!
"This course helped me with positive behaviour management strategies and reminded me to keep encouraging students and, most importantly, remembering why I started teaching in the first place."
"Mark’s training was just what we needed... his delivery was engaging, professional and positive and the content of his training provided just the right balance of theory and practical application that will allow us to start with a clear foundation for our approach to behaviour."
"I now have some insight into some different strategies I can use in the classroom about how to be more productive. Excellent session – highly relevant as an NQT!"
Mark is a great guy, a genuine champion for kids who need a second chance...a considered and reflective professional...we are very excited to work closely with him.
Mark has run his coaching turn-around programme with some of our most disengaged boys - sometimes one-to-one but also with groups from Key Stage 3 and 4. Mark is able to connect with these students and build a relationship that allows the students to take more responsibility for their education and start to build a better relationship with school.
Good practical advice, Mark answered all the questions asked…every question made to feel important and relevant.
"I thoroughly enjoyed the session – very informative! I have taken away new strategies to implement with different classes – particularly feedback."
Mark says in his profile 'student second chances a speciality'...we need everyone in education to be like Mark - this very good man deserves more followers!
A good presenter...very useful and enjoyable session...a good foundation to underpin my behaviour strategy...some good reminders but plenty of new thinking.
I cannot thank you enough, Mark...amazing support during and beyond the time you worked with K. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your wonderful support for our son. He has changed his life so much for the better and most of that was down to you...
A really great conference…I learned a lot! Mark was great, passionate and interesting.
Evaluations on the training delivered by Mark are always very positive with participants readily connecting with his positive and engaging style and recognising the quality of the resources he shares and the practical classroom relevance of the training.
At the Uttoxeter Learning Trust we have regularly used Mark’s expertise and passion to deliver training. He has delivered sessions on Behaviour to new and experienced staff as well as delivering our annual NQT conference to new staff from across our Teaching School Alliance.
"Thank you! I can use information from the course to build better relationships with pupils and have better behaviour management."
I have new strategies to use with my more difficult classes.
I have seen the impact Mark has made through his scheme, for our school and importantly for the young people he works with - all the participants and their parents comment positively on the changes he has helped them to make.
